Principal – Jacqueline J. Norcel

Mrs. Norcel was Principal of Tashua School from November 1984 until June 2003. Mrs. Norcel was named Principal of Frenchtown Elementary School in November, 2002 and she continued to administer Tashua and Frenchtown through June ’03.Mrs. Norcel opened Frenchtown in August, 2003.

She served as Principal of Coventry Grammar School from 1980-1984. From 1961-1980 she worked as an educator for the New York City school system. She received a B.S. from Fordham University, a M.S. from Brooklyn College, a Sixth year Professional Diploma from Southern Connecticut State University and a Seventh year from Bridgeport University.

She has served as a board member for the Connecticut Association of Elementary School Principals at CAS. She served as Federal Relations Coordinator for Connecticut from 1989-2002. She served as Director for Zone I on the National Board of NAESP from 1987 thru 1990. Mrs. Norcel was recognized as a national Distinguished Principal in 1988.

During her tenure as Principal of Tashua, the school was awarded the National School of Excellence (Blue Ribbon School) by the U.S. Department of Education and was recognized by Redbook Magazine for Overall Excellence. In 2005, CAS recognized Frenchtown as an Exemplary Technology Site and in November 2007 Frenchtown was recognized by CAS as Connecticut’s Outstanding School of the Year. In November 2008, Frenchtown was also awarded the Exemplary Program Award (Flag Day).

Mrs. Norcel serves as chair person of Trumbull’s district-wide Cultural Diversity Committee. She is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Phi Delta Kappa and Pi Lambda Theta. She has received the Outstanding Citizenship Award from the Bridgeport Dental Association in 1991 and the Distinguished Service Award from the town of Trumbull in 1982. Mrs. Norcel was named a Woman of Vision and Action by DKG International at the International Convention in Spokane, WA in July 2010. Mrs. Norcel is active in her church. She serves as trustee, lecture and Eucharistic Minister.

Mrs. Norcel received the Saint Augustine Medal of Service in recognition of her service and contributions to Saint Stephen Parish and the Diocese of Bridgeport on October 26, 2013.  At St. Augustine Cathedral from Bishop Frank J. Caggiano.
